Sons In Retirement, Inc (SIR) is a Public Benefit Non Profit Corporation whose objective is to assist retired men in northern California to maintain old friendships, form new ones and avoid the boredom of retirement. The SIR organization was Incorporated in 1959 and now has about 19,000 members in 150 branches. There is no espousal of political, religious,  fraternal organizations, or the like, at any time.
Branch 8, Mount Diablo, was chartered in 1965.  We have about 290 members and meet on the second Monday of the month for luncheon at the Concord Hilton Hotel, 1970 Diamond Boulevard, Concord.  At the luncheons we have invited speakers who present a wide range of subjects. In the past year the topics have ranged from the Science of Beer, developing a Local Arts Center, to a review of Cal’s football team!
Every year we have two Ladies Day Luncheons. The first is in June, the second one in December. Ladies are also invited to a number of our activities, please check with the Activity Chair to see if that is appropriate.
Thanks to a very active membership we have an incredible choice of activities, just look at the selection menu on the right side of the page. Â Click on an Activity of interest and you will find some contact information and, usually, a report of the latest happenings in that group. If a member cannot find a favorite activity, we invite him to start it!
